CJ 104 Story Regarding Bill 52

A Woodstock resident has sent a letter to a New Brunswick minister requesting his party act quickly, so new legislation concerning bullying doesn't die.

Rob Frenette -- co-founder of BullyCanada.ca -- says he has been working with Minister Brian Kenny on the Anti-Bullying File for several years.
Kenny is the M-L-A for Bathurst -- where Frenette graduated high school -- and is also the Minister of State for Seniors and the Minister responsible for Community Non-profit Organizations.

The letter Frenette sent to Kenny focuses on the fact that Progressive Conservative Leader David Alward recently introduced amendments to the Education Act.

Frenette says the provincial government confirmed the amendments will go to the Committee of the Whole, but it's up to the Liberals to decide whether or not the Bill is presented.

TAG: Frenette says, if the Legislation is passed, it would mean that the New Brunswick Education Act would now define bullying and harassment and would also make it mandatory for all school Principals to be made aware of the situation.

Also, if passed, the bully can be suspended and will need to participate in anti-bullying programs before returning to school.
