BATHURST - A coalition of groups across Canada are urging retailers to refuse to sell a controversial new video game about bullying.

The creator of an anti bullying website here in the province is calling for the game to be banned.

Robert Frenette of Bathurst is the creator of the website www.bullyingcanada.ca, which is designed to help youth deal with bullying.

Frennette, who himself was a victim of bullying for almost 12 years says these sorts of games are far from entertainment, and he is going to the top to stop their sale.

"I have sent a letter to the prime minister. I will be in touch with each premier asking them to do a provincial and or national ban. I know the Canadian teachers federation is behind it and want a ban. It's something that is being looked at, and we would like to see it off the shelves as soon as possible."

Frennette says its hard to wrap his head around this game, being a victim of this type of activity, and says its promoting it in its worst form.

The game goes on sale today for the Nintendo WII and the X-Box 360.
