Anti-bullying groups angry about website encouraging teens to kick redheads

There's outrage from anti-bullying groups over teens planning to attack people today based on the colour of their hair.

A group on the social-networking website Facebook has garnered over 4,000 members planning to kick people with red hair tomorrow.

Rob Frenette with bullyingcanada.ca says he's shocked to hear the plans. "It's the first time I've been made aware of it. It's definitely something that is going to have to have some definite action...I'm just reading some of their comments and everybody seems to be pumped about this event. I don't know how you can get pumped and look forward to bullying somebody."

Frenette says that attacking someone just because they have red hair could be considered a hate crime and believes that if people see it happening, it should be brought to the attention of educators and police.

He adds that social-networking sites like Facebook help mobilize bullies in new and dangerous ways.

And while it may have been started as a joke, Frenette says the fact that children are scared to go to school, indicates it's become much more.
