Public Statement From BullyingCanada.Ca related to the recent events of “Kick a Ginger Day”

Katie Neu, 16, one of the Founders of BullyingCanada.Ca says, “As a redhead myself, I find it very appalling to have a group of people attack another group of people over something as simple as the colour of a person’s hair”.

"We are very taken back that students would pick a certain group of people to harass due to their hair color," said Robert Frenette, 19, one of the Founders of BullyingCanada.Ca. "This is definitely something that is growing globally unfortunately," said Frenette. "I think this needs to be looked at closely and quickly before it gets out of hand."

If a group targeted people about hair colour this week, what should we be expecting next week, some sort of cult to beat and terrorize people based on their physical or psychological disability, a certain age group or nationality? Times have changed and schools, parents, teachers, students and communities need to adapt to the newer forms of bullying.
